Company Overview
Wärtsilä is a provider of power solutions for the marine, oil and gas and energy markets. The company divides its operations into marine, oil and gas, and energy products, apart from providing relevant services. The company operates in more than 200 locations in 68 countries throughout the world.
Since 2013, Wärtsilä has expanded its range of Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) offerings considerably. Wärtsilä offers chlorine based BWM as well. In March 2018, the company announced that its BWM systems had completed all testing procedures required for U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) type approval compliance. In April 2017, the company was in the process of signing agreement with several major shipyards including Keppel Shipyard Ltd. (KSL) of Singapore towards cooperation and communication in relation to the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Convention for Ballast Water Management that was enforced later in 2017. In August 2017, the company won a contract to supply BWM systems and other products and solutions for six new 1160TEU container feeder vessels at the Fujian Mawei shipyard in China. In 2019, the company became the first Ballast Water Management System supplier to be granted dual technology USCG Type Approval.
