Samsung is a conglomerate headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, comprised of 169 subsidiaries. The group is comprised of different units functioning in three major business areas: consumer electronics, IT and mobile communication and device solutions. Samsung Group was established in Jan. 1969 as Samsung Electronics Industry Co. Ltd. The company changed its name to Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. due to a resolution passed by the shareholders in 1984. Geographically, the group holds a strong footprint all over the globe, with 44 subsidiaries in the Americas, 31 subsidiaries in Europe and 23 subsidiaries in Asia. The company individually maintains 23 subsidiaries in China. In Africa, the Middle East and CIS regions, the company has 22 production and sales subsidiaries.
