ResMed Inc.
Company Snapshot
Company Overview
ResMed was established by Prof. Colin Sullivan of the University of Sydney. He created the first CPAP device, which was built from a vacuum cleaner pump and came to be known as the first noninvasive treatment device for obstructive sleep apnea. Since 1989, ResMed has created some of the best-selling CPAP masks, including the Mirage, Swift and AirFit lines.
ResMed CPAP lines such as the S8, S9, AirSense, AirStart and AirMini have led the market. ResMed CPAP supplies include masks cushions, clips and headgear, filters and hoses. ResMed CPAP masks and machines are recognized as high-end products within the sleep apnea industry. ResMed was the first company to introduce the pressure relief feature known as EPR (Expiratory Pressure Relief). This is now featured on every ResMed CPAP machine.
More recently, new technology involves stronger data tracking viewable from a smart phone. ResMed digital health technologies and cloud-connected medical devices transform care for people with sleep apnea, COPD and other chronic diseases. The company’s comprehensive out-of-hospital software platforms support professionals and caregivers in home and care settings. ResMed has improved the quality of life, reduced the impact of chronic diseases and lowered costs for consumers and healthcare systems in more than 140 countries.
In November 2022, ResMed purchased MEDIFOX DAN, a German software solutions supplier for many out-of-hospital care providers. This acquisition’s robust offerings and dedicated team extend ResMed’s out-of-hospital SaaS business into new health sectors while also building on ResMed’s established healthcare business in Germany.
In November 2022, ResMed’s new Advanced Manufacturing Centre in Tuas, Singapore, opened. The 270,000-square-foot (25,000-square-meter) facility more than doubles ResMed’s Singapore footprint and serves as the company’s primary manufacturing center in Asia-Pacific. The facility will employ over 1,000 people and include intelligent dashboards that use real-time data to monitor the performance of production lines.
