Company Overview
Polar Electro began its operations in 1977, headquartered in Kempele in Finland. The company researches, develops, manufactures, and sells heart rate monitoring products, activity trackers, and training computers. It offers a suite of heart rate monitors, performance trackers, GPS-enabled bike computers, and GPS sports watches for fitness and cross training, swimming, yoga, running, and cycling applications; accessories, including heart rate sensors, cycling sensors, running sensors, data transfer products, and other accessories; and mobile applications and compatible sensors. Polar Electro also offers Polar Flow Web service, where riders can plan and analyze the details of their training. It sells its products through a network of retailers and online stores worldwide.
As of December 2022, Polar had 1,200 people employed worldwide, 21 subsidiaries globally, and a distribution network supplying over 35,000 retailers in more than 80 countries. On August 1, 2022, LiveWell by Zurich, Zurich’s health and well-being business, announced a collaboration with Polar Electro. The collaboration initially started with six countries—Brazil, Italy, Portugal, Spain, the U.K., and Ireland—and will expand to other countries where Polar and LiveWell are present in due course.
