Company Snapshot
Company Overview
Linde is among the largest producers of industrial gases, including atmospheric gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, rare gases) and process gases (carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen, electronic gases, specialty gases, acetylene). It also has an engineering unit that builds process plants for companies in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and gas manufacturing industries. One of Linde’s engineering specialties is designing and building hydrogen-producing partial oxidation units for refineries. Its engineering division offers various process plants like air separation plants, hydrogen & synthesis gas plants, petrochemical plants, absorption & membrane plants, etc.
It operates through its five business segments, namely Americas, EMEA, APAC, Linde Engineering, and Others. The Company distributes industrial gas in three ways, namely onsite or tonnage, merchant or bulk liquid, and packaged or cylinder gas. Linde’s industrial gas operations are managed on a geographical basis, and in 2022, around 87% of revenue was generated by its three geographic segments (Americas, EMEA, and APAC), and the remaining 14% is related to the Engineering segment.
Industrial gases: Linde Gas supplies industrial gases, medical gases, specialty gases, refrigerants, and other chemicals. These gases transported in portable high-pressure gas cylinders, in liquified form by road tanker, from onsite gas generators, or in the gaseous form via pipeline to large customers.
Engineering: Linde Engineering designs and builds large-scale chemical plants to produce industrial gases, including oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, and carbon monoxide. The business unit also designs and builds large plants connected with the processing of natural gas, LNG, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and the manufacture of olefins.
