Kolon Industries Inc. is a Korean manufacturing company founded in 1957. Kolon started its material business in the 1990s based on its integrated fundamental technologies such as polymer synthesis and processing, process control and formulation technologies. In 2008, Kolon Industries won the Chang Young Shil Award for localization of diaspheres. In 2014, the company further developed high-quality diffuser particles called Diasphere.

Kolon Industries’ Diasphere product is of interest to this report. Diasphere is a spherical polymer particle with sizes ranging from 1 to 60 microns. PMMA, PBMA (poly t-butyl methacrylate) and silicon are among of the Diasphere materials manufactured by Kolon.
