Company Overview
In 2006, the Hyundai Motor Europe headquarters opened in Offenbach, Germany, to manage European sales, marketing, aftersales, fleet, and dealer activities. The company sells vehicles in over 45 European countries through its 2,200 sales outlets. In 2021, it sold 515,886 units in Europe - a 21.6 percent increase over 2020. From TUCSON to KONA Electric, six best-selling European models are produced in Turkey and the Czech Republic plants, representing nearly 72 percent of its total European sales.
In 2021, The company announced that it is in progress to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045 by neutralizing CO2 emissions at all stages of production and operation. According to the company, from 2035, all new Hyundai vehicles sold in Europe will be either battery-electric or fuel cell electric vehicles.
Hyundai Motor secured the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s 2021 Targeted Airshed Grants (TAG) funding to deploy further XCIENT Fuel Cell trucks in California in addition to 30 trucks that will be rolled out in the NorCal Zero project starting their operation in the Port of Oakland mid next year.
Starting in 2020, the company exported 47 hydrogen-powered, zero-emission commercial trucks to 23 Swiss companies using them for logistics, distribution and supermarket fulfillment.
