Company Overview

Hitachi Ltd. is a prominent global electronics company with a diverse presence in information technology, electronics, power systems, social infrastructure, industrial systems and construction machinery.

The company began working with industrial robotic technology in the 1960s and displayed early computer-controlled domestic robots in the 1970s. It has developed a wide range of robots for various applications by leveraging its expertise in operational technologies (OT). Around 2003, it started working with AI for autonomous movement for the purpose of making logistics more efficient. That work culminated in 2009 with the commercialization of an autonomous automatic guided vehicle that can move without reading white lines or similar artificial markers, instead of creating its own maps.

The company acquired Kyoto Robotics, a Japan- based startup company for intelligent robotic systems in April 2021, to provide one-stop and speedy robotic for an entire automated line in the fields of logistics and factory automation.
