Company Overview

Gas Technology Institute (GTI) was formed by the merger of Gas Research Institute (GRI) and the Institute of Gas Technology (IGT) in April 2000. GTI provides contract research and development, technical services, and education programs on natural gas commercialization and energy-related technology to energy companies. The institute has developed a technology in which CO2 from GHG is reacted with CH4 from natural gas for the production of acetic acid. The intermediates from the process yield acetic acid and ethanol with minimal net H2 consumption and a net CO2 reduction.
